17 June 2010:
As we continue to present the gifts of Dr Poo fan Warren Hillsdon, we’re absolutely delighted to update our page about the legendary Dr Poo Fan Club. This organisation – previously represented in these pages by little more than a pin badge from Wikipedia – sent a glorious pack of goodies to its members, and Warren has diligently kept all the little bits and pieces in immaculate condition. My favourite item has to be the (tough-looking!) piece of toilet paper stamped by the Department of Time and Space...

16 June 2010:
Further updates to the episode guide today, including some date revisions (moving the start of the series back to at least May 1979) and some new storylines... Warren has digitised six cassettes' worth of off-air recordings, and revealed over 60 completely new episodes! Full transcripts and details will follow in time... for now, Kevin the Announcer's quick outro to Dr Poo's election speech, captured from the broadcast, has been added to the transcript of that episode.

A second Knees Ahoy radio trailer has been added to the records section, where you can also find a contemporary press review of the Universe is Big EP by Tony Cooke. For many years this was our only piece of information about the record, so it's good to revisit it as a piece of journalism!

14 June 2010:
New sections! See below the episodes link for a new Comic Strip section - who knew there was such a thing? - and directly below the bowl for a new Fan Club area. At the moment there are 2 radio ads and a small press cutting in this section - shortly we'll be adding the full Fan Club pack!

The episode guide has been updated with tantalising information about the stories immediately following K-Tel Derado. The Knee's Ahoy LP pages have been expanded with a radio trailer (mp3 and transcript), cassette covers and press cutting.

12 June 2010:
An article published in May 1981 has been added to the site, thanks to Dr Poo fan Warren Hillsdon who contacted us this week. Geoff Kelso and Lance Curtis talk at length about the Dr Poo series, its cancellation, and The Universe is Big EP. Click here to go straight to it - a link from the homepage will be added shortly!

There is much more to come...

10 June 2010:
An enormous update today to the episode guide! There are some completely new transcripts of episodes from the hitherto uncharted months of the series, a selection of Knees Ahoy! transcripts from the original radio episodes, and some very educated guesses as to exact transmission dates for the late 1980 episodes.

All the above are courtesy of Phil Coy, who not only visited the National Archive to browse the ABC's surviving recordings and paperwork, but also, quite some time ago, drew up a spreadsheet of dates to align 1980 dates to hints in the scripts, or comments made before or after individual episodes by Doug Mulray, to work out as accurately as possible when certain episodes aired. It's a beautiful piece of work!

We've also added a front-page endorsement from Geoff Kelso - we hope he won't mind us quoting his email, as it makes us chuckle!

31 December 2009:
Happy new year to all our readers!

12 July 2009:
The episode guide has been enriched by a new episode breakdown (with more transcript highlights) by Andrew Hodson, who has brilliantly cut down the omnibus recording of Dr Poo's African Adventure into its component episodes. The pages are also annotated with memories from Phil, who had the original episodic version on tape at one point. The compilation ends with the beginning of a completely different story, The Time Tap, which could be the last episode recorded - the series was taken off the air mid-way through the African Adventure plot...

Elsewhere I've added some details to the History page and clarified some information about the Knees Ahoy! LP - which Phil assures me was indeed a compilation of previously-aired episodes, and not an original recording after all.

10 July 2009:
5 more for you, finishing Phil's recordings of the (incomplete) Dr Wee story. That's a continuous run of 109 episodes, from June/July's Universal Administration through to December 1980, very close to the series' conclusion! Also available now: an explanation of where all these recordings actually come from.

9 July 2009:
Highlights from 14 more episode transcripts, courtesy of Phil, added to the Galah Free and Dr Wee storylines.

14 June 2009:
Highlights from Phil's transcripts of the entire Sock Wedding storyline have now been uploaded - bridging the gap between his first recordings and the (already transcribed) French Revolution story. That's a continuous run of 91 episodes, Poo fans, from June/July through to October/November 1980! And there's plenty more to come...

8 June 2009:
The end of the CackRonalds storyline and the following 4 episodes - where Bernie Smith takes the place of God - have now been added to the site, courtesy of Phil's transcripts and recordings.

2 June 2009:
It's never been so busy at Dr Poo HQ. In the last two months Phil has continued to send cracking episodes over to Blighty - including complete storylines featuring the death of God (replaced by Bernie Smith, a God look-a-like) and Dana's brother's wedding - and has now overtaken our original collection of episodes (the Dubbo French Revolution/Felix Major/Wildcat Strike stories) and is continuing with the brilliant Galah Free & Dr Wee storylines from late 1980! New Poo fan Andrew Hodson has made contact, too, with a curious and very exciting set of recordings.

An Australian sci-fi dealer gave him copies of a 3CD collection of Dr Poo episodes that had once passed through his shop, calling itself a "complete collection". It contained a CD version of the Knees Ahoy! LP, two (seemingly official) omnibus episodes (compilations of the Dubbo French Revolution story and Dr Poo's African Adventure) and a fascinating run of 31 episodes from the very beginning of the series - including the not-for-broadcast vocal idents, studio noise and test tones inbetween the episodes.

It sounds for all the world as if these recordings have been taken directly from the ABC archives - they are all excellent quality stereo recordings, far better than anything we've heard before, and are clearly not taken from off-air recordings. We're intrigued! And we're also delighted, for the episodes are extremely funny. Soon we will bring you details of Dr Poo's adventures with the Dreks, nasty chemical toilets who force feed their human prisoners with prunes and laxettes; Ghenkis Gahn and his hoardes of barbarians, who fail to sack Rome because their beer goes warm whenever they leave the Alps and travel to Italy; and K-Tel-Derado, where everything is made of cheap plastic!

Kevin is trying to book himself a day off work so that all these episodes can be properly added to the site. Bear with us and we should be fully updated soon!

Updated 22 March 2009:
Six more episodes from the CackRonalds story have been transcribed and uploaded today!

Updated 15 March 2009:
The CackRonalds storyline has begun its serialisation on the site - you can read Phil's transcripts of the first six episodes!

Updated 8 March 2009:
Poo fan extraordinaire Phil Coy is sending me daily doses of Dr Poo episodes from 1980, so today I've been able to make a much-longed-for update to the Radio Episodes pages, starting with his five surviving episodes from the Universal Administration story.

Updated 25th June 2008:
We finally got our hands on a copy of THE UNIVERSE IS BIG, and you can enjoy scans of the front and back sleeve in the 'Records' section as of today. As with the KNEE'S AHOY images, if you click on the small versions you'll get a full-screen version as a pop-up. The LP also inspired a small dedication page to Lance Curtis, which includes his small-screen credits from IMDb and will be updated as often as possible with further details.

Updated 18th June 2008:
The 4 main pages have now been supplemented by a couple of semi-hidden pages... click on the other markings around the edge of the bowl and you might find a 'Credits' section and a 'Fan Club' page - where you can sign-up for site updates and have your name listed as a friend of Poo!
